Additional API Endpoints

The Sefaria APIs allows live access to Sefaria's structured database of Jewish texts and their interconnections. It is designed to make getting up and running with a new web or mobile app as simple as possible. If you want to run your own database, please don't use this API to grab our data; instead you can download a complete dump of our data on GitHub.

To learn more about our API, check out our API Reference. There you can find documentation and playgrounds for our most essential API endpoints.

Text References

A number of API calls depend on creating valid text references (a.k.a citations) which are generally called "refs" in our code. To understand text references, please see our documentation here.

Additional API Endpoints

The following endpoints have not (yet) been documented in our API playground. To learn a bit more about these endpoints and their use in the Sefaria ecosystem, you can read the doc linked below.

To see a complete list of known texts, please view the Sefaria Table of Contents.
